Alexandria City Does Not Require Each Town Home In Potomac Yard To Have Two Parking Spaces

The Zoning Ordiannce does not regulate the assignement of spaces. This is not a zoning issue but may be a civil matter between the HOA and residents who may object.
There is media coverage when it's egregious, like the situation with the woman with MS in Hunting Hills. But otherwise people are only being ripped off a little bit a time (usually), so they don't complain and don't want to spend the money to fight it. And the message when you fight is You don't care about the community! and How dare you get out of line! Then it's lone individuals in the pack who end up with liens and the threat of losing their home. Instead of trying to help, their neighbors are "glad it's not me" and they focus on the bad homeowner and align themselves with the board so they're not next. It's like Survivor or Lord of the Flies.
ReplyDeleteAs we've discussed, a lot of this cult culture is driven by the 70s-something retirees with too much time on their hands and a desperate need to belong to something and "make a difference" whatever that means for an HOA. To your point, they should join a church.
I would love to have more money to sue my HOA several times. They are screwing up so much and always "on the advice of counsel." I've been trying to get through to a live person at the IRS to discuss the reserved parking spaces for the ungarage townhome. The idiot lawyer, with no background in tax law, gave bad legal advice about handing out parking spaces to a small subset of owners.
